We are shining a light on depression in session 2 with Sabrena Barnes-McAllister, LGSW. She is a licensed social worker. We recently surveyed some followers on social media about their struggles with depression and we incorporated their questions and feedback into the show today. We discussed:

  1. What are the most commons signs & symptoms of depression? How is it diagnosed?
  2. What causes depression, panic attacks, feelings of hopelessness or being overwhelmed?
  3. What are some common misconceptions about depression? (the following are examples I found online.)
  4. Can’t I pray my feelings of depression away?
  5. If I’m contemplating suicide, what should I do?

  5. How will my privacy be protected if I seek treatment for my depression
