019: The Annual Well Woman Visit with Dr. Sharyn Lewin

September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month. On today’s show, I’m chatting with Dr. Sharyn Lewin, an OBGYN at Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, NJ. We’re talking about that sometimes dreaded annual visit to the OBGYN for our pap smear, breast exam and mammogram.

She provides some great questions we should be asking our doctor and some resources to learn more about women’s cancers. We answer these common questions:

  • Why are annual OBGYN visits so important?
  • How prevalent are gynecologic cancers? Who is most affected by cervical and ovarian cancers?
  • Are women talking to their doctors about ovarian and cervical cancer? What are some ways to start
  • What treatment options are available for women with advanced cervical or ovarian cancers?
  • Where should women go for more information?
